GEOMETRIC EARRING DIY

Are you ready for the easiest Saturday craft project ever?! I have seen so many "geometric" DIYs out there lately and they are all sooooo easy! I love projects I can do while Henry is sleeping (you know, for like 15 minuetes) so I thought I would share these earrings I made for friends for Christmas. These earrings really are so easy to make and are pretty inexpensive. Invite a friend over on a Saturday afternoon and make everyone you know a pair of earrings for their birthday or Valentines day! Enjoy!

Henry's Taco Truck, Dallas TX

To make a Taco Truck (or any food truck) for your own little:

YOU WILL NEED:

1 small box, 1 tall box, box cutter, paint, tape, scissors

TO MAKE IT:

First, remove all tape or staples from boxes. Then, make your small box even smaller by cutting off the top half. Paint both boxes entirely one color. Because we just painted our walls white we just used that paint but you could also use spray paint if you want. Wait for your boxes to dry. Cut a window into the bigger box and then a flap for the "food" window.  Tape one end of the taller box closed and the remaining half of the smaller box closed. Tape your smaller box to the taller box as shown in the picture. We used regular clear packing tape. Using another color of paint to paint a logo on the "food window" and details on the front part of the truck. You can't see it in any of these photos but we painted two squares for the windshield, a grill, headlights and windshield wipers. When the paint is dry present your little one with his or her new food truck and let them go wild. Henry loved playing hide and seek through the window, passing toys and food through the food window and just hanging out in his box.

In other news - we are slowly slowly slowly getting used to it here in Texas. People are really friendly and there is a lot to do. Henry is sick tonight so we are playing doctor with him and getting prepared for one sleepless night. He just has a cold but the boy is so dramatic you would think his arm is falling off. Oh how I love him! If you end up making a food truck for your little one I would LOVE to see it! If you instagram it be sure to let me know @janereaction !! Or leave a comment here and link to a picture.

Feng Shui your new year

fengshui
My friend Katie told me that her and her mom used to make little collages of their goals for the new year based on Feng Shui and the Bagua. I thought it sounded like fun and so one night we tried it out together. My collage is a little cryptic and I didn't really follow the colors of the Bagau map... But you get the idea. I thought it was a cool way to set goals and keep balance in my life. And since I am a very visual person it helps remind me everyday what I am working on. If any of you end up making one I would LOVE to see what it looks like and maybe even post it on my blog.

Our DIY Wedding Details

_MG_4033detailsE+C_554hairflowerrileyicecreamE+C_310E+C_095ringnutsjam

Conor and I wanted to do everything ourselves or let close friends help us out. We wanted everything to mean something or be unique in some way. We spent the summer collecting vintage dishes and blue glass jars from antique stores. His grandmother embroidered our napkins, and they are now my prized possessions. I had a close friend do my hair. My sister (beautiful and talented) made our ring pillow and placed it in an old book for us. My mom's friend made the cake and our neighbor down the street offered to man our ice cream cart. The food was made by a close friend who also happens to be a professional chef. My mom spent her summer days making jars of homemade jam for each guest to take home and I stamped each tag with our initials. We also happen to be friends with Natalie Norton (which makes selecting a photographer EASY). There was not a single person involved in our day that we did not have a close connection to. It was beautiful.
